Microbial Genetics Laboratory:

There are 2 graduate students in my lab so far. Both of them are learning in this lab more than two years since they are undergraduate students. There are 6 undergraduate students. Most of the students are the students of Life Sciences or Molecular Biology and Human Genetics departments. We have lab meeting every Monday evening and at least half hours meeting with PI individually every week. We have lots of extracurricular activities such as dinner, sports and attend conferences in this lab. We wish you to feel like family in this lab. Please visit our website to learn more about us.

Research Interests

My researches focus on understanding the biodegradation ability of Acinetobacter baumannii and Rodococcus jostii RHA1. Acinetobacter baumannii is a multidrug resistant gram negative bacterium and caused nosocomial problem. We are interesting to understand how and why this bacterium with the ability to degrade the disinfecting agent “alcohol”. Rodococcus jostii RHA1 is a gram positive environmental bacterium with the ability to degrade a lot of aromatic compounds. We are interesting to know the gene regulation of this bacterium why they encounter those aromatic compounds.

If you are interested in bacteria and willing to learn some molecular biological techniques including DNA, RNA and protein analysis and Microbiota analysis, please contact us. We also collaborate with specialist of protein chemist (Dr. Hao-Ping Chen) and analytical chemist (Hui-Ru Lin) you can learn from them while attend to my laboratory.
